Golf Courses in England to Host the

There are only six golf courses in England that have hosted The Open Championship in its' long history. These course are Royal St George's (Sandwich), Royal Liverpool (Hoylake), Royal Cinque Ports (Deal), Prince's, Royal Lytham and St Annes and Royal Birkdale. England has hosted The Open a total of forty four times with next Open Championship being staged in England in 2006. | Royal Lytham and St Annes Golf Club was first introduced to The Open in 1926 and found an extremely famous and popular winner - Bobby Jones. Lytham has since staged The Open nine times with David Duval being the most recent champion there in 2001. Royal Lytham & St Annes is a 6673 yards par 71 course. | |||||||||||||||||

Strangely enough, Royal Birkdale is the most recent golf course in England to have been chosen by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club to play host to The Open. Many golfers regard Birkdale as the best links course in England. Peter Thomson, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino and Tom Watson are among those who have won The Open here. Royal Birkdale is a 6726 yards par 72 course. |

Prince's Golf Club is situated in Sandwich with Royal St George's Golf Club as its' neighbour. Having only staged The Open in 1932, Prince's is still used for Open Qualifying when The Open is at Royal St George's.
