Courses in Dublin and the East of Ireland |
| As one of Europe's
oldest cities, Dublin has an abundance of cultural riches, it is also a thriving
modern city renowned for the friendliness of its people, its pub life and shopping.
Part of its great appeal is its proximity to the rural delights of the counties
that surround it. Mountainous Wicklow; renowned as the Garden of Ireland, Kilkenny
with its medieval city and lush landscape and Waterford, home to the famous crystal.

| Druids
Glen Golf Club |
|
Often compared to Augusta, this stunningly beautiful parkland course has hosted
the Irish Open several times and has some of the best putting surfaces in Ireland.
The sweeping 1st, the 2nd (inspired by the 17th at St Andrews) and the closing
holes are some of its best.

| Portmarnock
Golf Club |
| |
| |
A
tough but fair links challenge, Portmarnock has just one blind shot, no hidden
traps and fine greens. However, 'punishing' best describes the rough?! Fabulous
360 degree vista on a fine day.

| A
Bernhard Langer designed course that really exploits the natural terrain to present
a classic links layout and a real challenge.

| Royal
Dublin
Golf Club |
| |
| |
| An
'out and back' layout reminiscent of Scottish links. Greens are firm and fast
while the inward nine tend to be the tougher half, most famously the 18th or Garden
- a right angled par four.

| The
Island Golf Club |
|
A must for all devotees of classic links golf, founded over a century ago but
still a well-kept secret. Built right amongst the dunes it follows the natural
terrain and has been described as the Lahinch of the east coast.

| The
K Club |
 |
Designed by Arnold Palmer, this parkland course hosts the European Open and will
be the venue for the 2006 Ryder Cup. Holes weave through former stud farmland
- the huge 7th and the 17th are particularly special.

| The
European Club |
Opened in 1992 but fast gaining recognition as one of Ireland's best, this rugged
links runs through a massive system of dunes with sweeping views of the Irish
Sea from seventeen of its holes. Approach the fantastic 8th with caution!

| Mount

 |
Jack Nicklaus designed this great parkland course in the heart of one of Ireland's
most beautiful country estates. It has hosted the Irish Open on several occasions
and also boasts the Mount Juliet Golf Academy.

| Baltray,
County Louth
Golf Club |
| |
| |
| One
of Ireland's hidden gems, this championship links is wonderfully natural and its
clubhouse most friendly and welcoming. The 12th is one of its best holes; carved
out of huge sandhills, the approach to the green through a gap in the dunes is
tricky!
