Golf Courses in Central Scotland

This is romantic Scotland, a land rich in history and stunning scenery. From the Perthshire Highlands with its dramatic landscape of picturesque lochs and glens, to Stirling the focal point of Scottish history and Braveheart country. In the heart of this lies Gleneagles; arguably one of the world's premier golf resorts. For almost one hundred years golfers from all over the world have come to play the course designed by the best golf course architect of the time, the five times Open Champion, James Braid. From the outset Gleneagles set new standards in quality and refinement - standards that persist to this day.

Kings Course (Gleneagles)

The Kings is a triumph of golf course design. Braid hardly disturbed the Highland terrain but rather insinuated golf holes upon it. Every hole is a surprise, not one overlooked by another so that one has the glorious sensation of being the only ones on it. The Kings is a tough track and has hosted many great championships. The Kings is arguably the best inland course in Scotland; its eighteenth being one of the most glorious finishes in golf.

The Kings is a 6471 yards par 70 course.

Queens Course Gleneagles

The most benign but perhaps the most beautiful of Gleneagles' courses, The Queens is considered to be Braid's most elegant layout. Braid's brief was to create an easier second course after the King's but he clearly couldn't resist designing a course which although shorter, is nevertheless as hard to score on as its neighbour. Accurate tee shots are the order of the day while the smaller greens require a deft putting stroke.

The Queens is a 5965 yards par 68 course.

PGA Centenary Course (Gleneagles)

Jack Nicklaus designed and built this, the newest of the Gleneagles courses. It is a course in complete contrast to its elderly regal relatives. The PGA Centenary Course (formerly known as The Monarchs Course) was made rather than placed and the great rolling banks of rough and broad lush fairways are more redolent of the modern golf courses of the US than of Scotland. As such, this course is unique and provides an opportunity for the visitor to refresh himself after the rigours of the antiquities. Scots themselves love this course for it is maybe more forgiving than most!

The PGA Centenary is a 6,551yards par 72 course.
