The R&A and the European Tour have announced that the 2018 Senior Open Championship will be hosted at The Old Course, St Andrews from 26th – 29th July 2018. This will be the first time that the Senior Open has been played at St Andrews although is has previously hosted The Open Championship on 29 occasions and the Ricoh British Women’s Open twice.

Five time Open Championship winner and three time Senior Open Champion Tom Watson will return to St Andrews after thinking the 2015 Open Championship would have been his last competitive outing to The Home of Golf. Although Watson never won at St Andrews, there are other notable players who have and who are now among the senior ranks. These include Sir Nick Faldo and John Daly.
